Fantastic service today when we popped in for lunch. We were lucky enough to be greeted and welcomed to the bar by Ryan. I can't say enough positive feedback about this young man. From suggestions, to prompt service. All the way to small details like not being over bearing, knowing when and when not to check in on us, all while keeping fun charming conversation. Food was spot on as it has every time I've been. Huge beer selection to which they are served cold and crispy. Additional shout out to the lovely server who dropped our food off. Smiley friendly and professional. This experience was a ten out of ten. No notes. I look forward to returning.
We went to South Block BBQ on Sunday around lunchtime. It was not overly busy on the cold December day. -16C We were seated right away, and our server appeared shortly after. She told us about brunch specials and took our drink orders. They have a huge selection of beers and the hard stuff as well. Food came quickly and was delicious. They also have dessert, but I was way too full for that. If you have a large party I would recommend you make a reservation but only 2 there is no problem getting seated. I would definitely come back here again.
The best bar in Calgary! No doubts. This is a must go bar in Calgary for any time of the day. Their BBQ is always on point and the meat is to die for. Their ribs, burned ends, brisket and pimento mac and cheese are my favorites! Even though its a brewery you can actually drool over their whiskey shelves, with the best of the best! They have live music every Friday and Saturday. The staff is engaged and attentive while keeping a genuine smile. Such a great place to enjoy with friends!!!
Great food and drink. Sat on the patio and tested a lot of their beers on tap. Had the brisket and collards and beans for a side and wings. Everything was great. The staff was awesome. We will definitely be back to sample their bourbons and the rest of the menu. You definitely need to go here if you haven't been yet!
Lots of drink options, delicious BBQ and a wonderful and a great atmosphere. The work staff was very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was energetic.
A really cool dining experience! All the meat was absolutely amazing, but if I'd have to pick a favorite, definitely for the turkey and the Blueberry Burnt ends! The only critique I have is that the dill pickle salad could use some more pickles, but other then that, an absolutely amazing meal. Also, the prices are low for what you all get!
The BBQ at South Block is indeed quite good. The thick-cut brisket is tender and flavorful, pairing perfectly with the barbecue sauce—absolutely delicious. The pulled pork Benny is a great choice too; the brunch combination and portion size are very satisfying. As for the drinks, they’re decent—my mango wheat beer and my friend’s cherry sour beer were just okay. The environment is cozy, and it’s not too crowded for a weekend lunch, making it a great spot for chatting.
I recommend this spot I ordered the beef ribs and they don't disappoint at all they are so juicy and tender and the portions are really big they also craft they're our beers cool spot to enjoy in Calgary downtown also the aura of the place it's really cool
